One of the most exciting gameplay details is undoubtedly the ability to experience an open-world Star Wars game. The combat itself, however, appears to be almost entirely standard third-person shooter fare - not the action melee combat usually used for games focusing on Jedi. Like in GTA, becoming wanted will result in the authorities - in the case of Outlaws, the Empire - coming after and hunting down Kay and her accomplices. While traveling around the galaxy as Kay Vess, getting into numerous adventures, carrying out heists, and completing other quests in her life as a scoundrel, the player must remain vigilant and aware of the threat of ending up wanted by the Empire. As Star Wars Outlaws features an open world, Kay Vess may, during her exploration, encounter one of the surviving Jedi, leading to her eventually refining her Force abilities, and even possibly becoming a Jedi and helping to rebuild the Jedi Order.Īs was seen in the official gameplay trailer for Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming title will, unlike Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor, have a GTA-esque wanted system. As Kay Vess has potentially been demonstrated to be Force-sensitive, there is a chance that she will follow a similar path to Star Wars Legends character Kyle Katarn - another Force-sensitive human who, upon learning of his abilities, taught himself to become a Jedi. As the trailer featured no lightsaber combat, it would seem probable that any potential Jedi inclusion would come in the mid- to late-game and would be significantly less instrumental to Kay Vess's weapon combat than her blaster.Īnother way the Jedi could feature in the game is with Kay Vess herself learning the way of the Jedi. Despite the fact that the official gameplay walkthrough provided no indication that any Jedi would be appearing in the open-world game, with Star Wars Outlaws taking place after Order 66 and before Return of the Jedi, although a significant majority of the Jedi had been killed, some had survived the clone wars and, therefore, could theoretically make an appearance in the upcoming game.
